Description
A classic Italian dessert that’s creamy and delicious, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 envelope (about 2 1/2 teaspoons) unflavored powdered gelatin
- 3 tablespoons cold water
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- Fresh mixed berries (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries)
- Berry coulis or honey
- Fresh mint leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Lightly oil 6 (6-ounce) ramekins or dessert cups with a neutral oil.
- In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it blooms and becomes spongy.
- In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture is steaming hot and the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared ramekins and refrigerate until set, at least 4 hours.
- To serve, gently run a knife around the edges of the panna cotta to help it release. It should release easily onto the plate.
- Alternatively, serve directly in the ramekins or glassware for an easier presentation.
- Garnish with fresh berries, a drizzle of berry coulis or honey, and a sprig of mint.
Notes
- Ensure the gelatin is fully dissolved before adding it to the cream mixture.
- For a quicker setting time, place the panna cotta in the freezer for a short time before refrigerating.
