Description

A classic Italian dessert that’s creamy and delicious, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 envelope (about 2 1/2 teaspoons) unflavored powdered gelatin
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Fresh mixed berries (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries)
  • Berry coulis or honey
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Lightly oil 6 (6-ounce) ramekins or dessert cups with a neutral oil.
  2. In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it blooms and becomes spongy.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture is steaming hot and the sugar has completely dissolved.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared ramekins and refrigerate until set, at least 4 hours.
  5. To serve, gently run a knife around the edges of the panna cotta to help it release. It should release easily onto the plate.
  6. Alternatively, serve directly in the ramekins or glassware for an easier presentation.
  7. Garnish with fresh berries, a drizzle of berry coulis or honey, and a sprig of mint.

  • Ensure the gelatin is fully dissolved before adding it to the cream mixture.
  • For a quicker setting time, place the panna cotta in the freezer for a short time before refrigerating.
